Steve Lassiter, a Nashville native, is a celebrated veteran with over 40 years in the music and entertainment industry. Starting as a production assistant at Sound Seventy Productions at just 19, Lassiter demonstrated early promise and passion, later earning his BA from Middle Tennessee State University. In 1981, he joined the agency world, working with ICS (International Celebrity Services), Variety Artists, Headline International Talent before finding his place at the William Morris Agency (WMA) in 1984. During his tenure there, Lassiter rose to Vice President and shareholder, guiding the careers of The Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt, The Oak Ridge Boys, Three Dog Night, America and Trisha Yearwood, among others.
In 1998, Lassiter joined APA as Head of APA Nashville, later becoming Partner, Senior Vice President, and Co-Head of Worldwide Music. Over the next 22 years, he represented a roster of icons including The Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt, Lee Greenwood, Crystal Gayle, Billy Ray Cyrus, Restless Heart, Sawyer Brown, Little Texas, Restless Heart,The Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws and Blackhawk among others.
In 2021, after 36 years in corporate agencies, Lassiter co-founded Reliant Talent with former APA colleagues Heath Baumhor and Matt Maguire. The independent agency’s diverse roster includes Travis Tritt, Rodney Carrington, Jim Messina, Pam Tillis, Crystal Gayle, Little Texas, Kenny Loggins, Nelly, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Yacht Rock Revue, Sister Hazel, Everclear, Jackyl, Buddy Guy,and Van Morrison. Since its launch, Reliant Talent has grown from nine staff members and 32 clients to a team of over 50, with a client list exceeding 100 across genres and a newly established TV and Film division.
Beyond his agency work, Lassiter has held several leadership roles in the industry. He serves on the board of The Nashville Association of Talent Directors (NATD), where he was also president, and has served on boards for ACM, IEBA, and TJ Martell. An adjunct professor at his alma mater, MTSU, he was also the entertainment director for the Tennessee State Harley Owners Group. A current member of ACM, CMA, IEBA, GMA, the Recording Academy, and IAFE, Lassiter is an alumnus of Leadership Music.Recognized by his peers, Lassiter was awarded Talent Director of the Year by NATD in 2005, inducted into the MTSU Wall of Fame, and received the NATD Honors Award in 2015. In 2017, he was honored on Billboard Nashville’s Power 100 and Variety’s Power Players list. In his spare time, Lassiter enjoys riding his motorcycle, traveling with his wife Sally Rose, and living life to the fullest.
